Fundraising to Fight Breed Specific Legislation
The ASTCC is a proud member of the Banned Aid Coalition, which is raising funds to fight breed specific legislation
Ontario's Bill 132, a province-wide ban on "pit bull type" dogs including American Staffordshire Terriers, has passed Royal Assent and will be enacted on August 29th, 2005 ("Cold Hard Facts on Bill 132 in Ontario").
The American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Canada has come together with the Dog Legislation Council of Canada, the Golden Horseshoe American Pit Bull Terrier Club, Advocates for the Underdog, and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club of Canada to form the Banned Aid Coalition. This coalition has hired well known lawyer Clayton Ruby to fight this hideous breed ban. This ban will cost the lives of thousands of innocent dogs and destroy the lives of many people. The choices for any dogs in shelters who fit the description are euthanasia or to spend what time they have left in a research facility!!! Please everyone dig deep to help save our dogs and donate whatever you can to the ASTCC. All donated funds will go directly to legal defence.
There are Several Ways You Can Help:
Collecting AirMiles
The DLCC has opened an Air Miles account, which can be used to offset DLCC expenses (such as travel costs for expert witnesses during the Ontario court challenge) or to obtain reward items for use in auctions and other fundraisers. Air Miles can be added to the DLCC account when you make purchases from participating retailers. You do not need to actually have a card: simply tell the cashier the account number - 8401 095 9720 - and the cashier can enter it manually. Unfortunately current Air Miles balances you might have cannot be transferred, but if you have an HBC Rewards Card (Zellers, The Bay, Home Outfitters) you can convert those points to Air Miles for the DLCC.
